Hi Will....just wanted you to know I so much enjoy reading your letters home and enjoy hearing your mission experiences. I love the witness you bear at the end of your letters of the miracles that happen on missions as you put forth the hard work. We are always indebted to our Heavenly Father. I love that lesson by King Benjamin also.
We enjoyed attending Hanna's graduation dinner the other night and loved being with your family again on Sunday up in Santa Barbara for the baby blessing for little Gus Shadel, Benji and Alex's baby boy.
We love and think of you often, Will. We are thankful for the good example you are. Take care and my you continue to see the hand of the Lord in your mission and in your life.
Love always, Aunt Debi
oh and p.s. we got Hans a white labrador puppy about 6 weeks ago. Her name is Gretel...get it? Hans and Gretel??? (uncle John's idea) anyway...she is a wonderful young dog but we definately are busy training her...she has lots of energy. We'll have to send you some pictures. I'll try to get your current address and have Hans write to you and send you them.

Have a great week! Enjoy those thunder showers....I love those too. Having grown up in Arizona where we had lots of thunder and lightening storms, especially in the summer. Such power!

Sure love you, Will! I enjoyed reading your letter home today and appreciate your entusiasm and positive attitude. I'm so glad you enjoyed conference and Easter. We did too! It was such a highlight of me. Steffen's mission mom was sustained in the first session on Saturday as the new General Primary President. Her name is Sis. Rosemary Wixom. He was pretty excited to see his mission mom called to be a general authority!
I had some questions and prayers answered during the very first session as I wrote in my journal. I know the Lord knows and hears our prayers. In the afternoon we had a big famiy dinner at our home...missed your family so much. We had 42 and we started out by Uncle John asking everyone to sit down for a prayer. Then he asked me to bear my testimony to the family which I didn't expect but felt that warm feeling flow all over me and tears came to my eyes as I shared with the extended family my love for our Savior and that I know He lives. The Spirit has born witness to me many times and did once again yesterday. We tried each day this past week to prepare Hans for Easter by discussing in the scriptures the last week of the Savior's life. He is old enough to grasp it now and was particularly touched Monday night as we showed and discussed the Lamb of God video. I hope it will help him appreciate the Sacrament a little more.
We love you and think of you on your mission. We love your wonderful family and just heard the news last week about them moving away as your dad's job requires it. I know the Lord will continue to bless and prosper them...we will miss them, though.
Christian and Emily and famiy were home for Easter and Conference with us...that was sure nice. They left today to go back to San Francisco and his dental school. He is just finishing his 2nd year. He went on a 10 day trip to the Dominican Republic last week with some other dental students and some dentists to do service there on people that need their teeth taken care of. It was a wonderful experience for him. My parents served their 2nd mission together there in the Domincan Republic so it was nice for him to be where his grandparents had served.
Mette and Steffen are coming home from BYU Idaho this next weekend for their semester break. I sure have missed them this semester...haven't seen them since Jan 2nd and we only had Steffen home from his mission for 2 weeks before he left for college. They are both doing great there....Mette has met a wonderful young man that returned from his mission in Spain 1 week before Steffen came home and he and Steffen became apartment mates, so Mette met him that way. They are very serious and we are anxious to meet him. His name is Brent Griffith from Santa Maria, CA. He will drive down with them this next Friday. They have been talking "marriage" but want to meet each others parents and family before the "engagement" word is official. We'll let you know!
I know the Lord loves each of us and guides and directs us as we keep His commandments. I know He loves and watches over His missionaries! Take care...have a wonderful week. Watch out for the flat tires!

Love always, Aunt Debi, Uncle John and Hans

Hi Elder Lassen....and happy belated birthday a couple weeks ago! We thought of you last night as we were at your home celebrating with a Lassen FHE and 3 month birthday celebration. You would have been up there for us to sing to with many others in the family. We hope you had a good celebration in the mission field.
I enjoy reading your letters, Will, and so thankful you are doing great on your mission. I know your testimony is growing stronger and you are loving the work.
Thank you for sharing with us through your letters home. We love you and pray for you! Love, Aunt Debi, Uncle John and Hans

Oxtail soup? Bring it on! That's almost as good as roasted oxtails. Almost like drinking gravy. YUM! Obviously, the boy is in need of a culinary lesson when he gets home.

Hi Elder Lassen! I enjoy reading your letters home each week. Thought I would comment today and tell you I love you and enjoy hearing your positive attitude about missionary work. I smiled as I could picture you on this man's porch with his bible propped on his little homemade pulpit. So glad you had a good night's sleep!

I love the way you watch for the miracles and the Lord's hand in the work you are doing. It is His work...how blessed you are to be engaged in it fulltime, with no worries about schooling, work, jobs, etc. It is a blessed time in your life.

I'm excited for Steffen to come home in a month but at the same time, know that all the things we worry about that I just mentioned, will start up again. It's been wonderful having him serving the Lord fulltime. He just had a special baptism Saturday of a man married to a member. The wife sent Uncle John and I a beautiful, love filled hand written letter and photos and expressed her gratitude for our son and the way he was able to reach her husband and that he finally desired baptism. I know the Lord uses us to reach different people by our unique gifts and personalities. I had tears come into my eyes and a lump in my throat as I read her letter and feel like I have some new friends in Virginia that we haven't even met yet.

Mette is in Europe right now...she has been staying with Aunt Anna and then traveled up to Denmark and stayed with family and friends there. Then she went by train back to Anna's for a couple days and then left her to travel to Austria, Switzerland, Italy and back to Anna's. Now she and Anna are in Paris together for 5 days, then a visit to Berlin. Mette will fly home on the 19th in time for Doris' wedding. She's had a wonderful trip and she's so glad she took the opportunity to travel a little before she starts school in January at BYU-Idaho. We still aren't sure about Steffen's schooling....he is waiting to hear back from BYU-Idaho as well.

Best wishes to you in Colorado, with your new companion and through this first holiday season away from home. You are doing great, Will! We love you and think of you so often and pray for the missionaries!

Ah! The reality of snow, blizzard and winter finally comes home. Well, the boy will survive the experience. Even the uphill six-mile bike ride will seem like a minor inconvenience. There is great sustenance in the Spirit.

As a matter of fact, we do have Preach My Gospel. We received the first copies that arrived in the Minneapolis Mission. We walked into the office jast as Pres. Evans was opening the box from SLC. That seems like about 5 years ago, which it is!

Hi Mrs. Lassen! This is Meagan Gibson. The next time you e-mail Elder Lassen will you let him know that I wrote him back, but for some reason my letter came back in the mail? I am planning on sending both letters but I'm sorry it took so long for me to get a letter too him. Thank you so much!
